The Taf Fechan Forest, 08 July 2023

10 ramblers and 4 dogs arrived at Owls Grove car park for a 7.3 mile walk up the valley towards the Neuadd Reservoirs. We welcomed Bethan Jones on her first walk with Merthyr Valley Ramblers. As we set off the rain had stop but there was still low cloud over the mountain tops. We visited the former Brecon and Merthyr railway tunnel at Torpantau and the terminus of the Brecon Mountain Railway. We then mingled through many other walkers who where doing the Alzheimer’s Society Trek13 or Trek26 Brecon Beacons Challenge. We passed by the Lower Neuadd reservoir on our way to Upper Neuadd reservoir and then returned to the Lower Neuadd reservoir where we had lunch. We then crossed over the Taf Fechan river and followed a track back down the valley back towards the car park and onto the Old Barn Tearooms.
