A walk through Quakers Yard, llanfabon, Nelson & Trelewis, 27 January 2024

The weather was cold and dry as 28 happy ramblers assembled for the start of our 8.5 mile walk today. We started by walking along Pentwyn road towards Quakers Yard then on the track along the hillside, enjoying the panoramic views of Treharris as we walked. A very overgrown footpath then greeted us as we made our way to the steps leading down the fiddlers elbow roundabout. Road safely crossed, we walked through the cemetery and climbed to some boulders where we had a cuppa. Then, it was on the track through Whitehall to Tai’r Heol where we started the big loop via the Rhymney Valley Ridgeway to Ty-Du and the park in Nelson where we had lunch. We then made our way along the railway, across some fields and back to the start. A superb walk with the good company of friends old and new expertly led by Peter. Thanks all.
