The sun shone brightly today on eleven lucky Merthyr Valley Ramblers at the Red Lion, Heolgerrig. As there were no visitors today, I decided to extend the walk to see more scenery and we ended up doing 7 miles. We left the Red Lion and via Garwnant lane, headed uphill to the forestry and our first cuppa on one of the road junctions. We then carried on along the road before we turned NW and dropped down on the track, crossing a number of bike trails along the way. At the end of the track, we turned South and at the bend, took the rough track to the farmhouse ruins where we had lunch. We then skirted Pen Y Lan hill as we made our way Westward back to Heolgerrig. Many thanks to all that came and who made this a great walk.
