Cwmbran Parks and Canal, 30 March 2024

Starting at the serene boating lake in Cwmbran, 20 of us, including our welcome guest Romeo, embarked on a 10-mile journey of discovery. Led by the ever-capable Peter, we traversed the picturesque banks of the Afon Llwyd river, marveled at the charming weirs of Llanyrafon, and ventured the river path opposite Craig-y-Felin Wood. Our midday pause came with a twist, as we found ourselves alongside an insulation factory. It wasn't your typical scenic stop, but the long low wall provided the perfect spot for a well-deserved rest. The camaraderie was in full swing as we navigated the bustling Pont-y-felin, with kind motorists aiding our safe passage. The Monmouth & Brecon Canal then guided us homeward, weaving through the heart of South Wales' stunning landscapes. As we strolled past the Cwmbran Stadium and Two Locks, the laughter echoed, and the bonds of friendship grew ever stronger. Peter may not be known for easy walks, but today's trek was nothing short of fantastic.
