A Good Dam Walk, 18 March 2023

The walk title "A Dam Good Walk" lived up to the billing today. 21 of us were truly spoilt by the overflowing dams and pleasant weather, the predicted light showers were almost non existent and the sun even made an appearance. From the visitor centre we made our way to the spectacular Caban Coch dam. We then followed the path towards the Garreg Ddu dam/bridge before continuing on the flat path with a stop for tea overlooking the reservoir. We then made our way upward towards the Pen y Garreg dam, also spectacularly overflowing after the recent rain fall. We dropped down below the face of the dam where we had a spot of lunch before heading toward Penbont house, here we diverted over the bridge to admire the wonderful wood carvings before retracing our steps back to the woodland on the other side of the reservoir. We then made our way through woodland and fields to the Garreg Ddu dam, crossing to retrace our original steps to the visitor center. Huge thanks to those that attended making a great day, was great to have a showing of new faces also, hope to see you all again soon.
